“I don’t know if he will be happy after my words, but this decision belongs only to the people of Ukraine,” Zelensky responded, making it clear that his country’s leadership is determined by democratic elections, not foreign influence.

Baier pressed further, asking if he would step down in exchange for peace.

“No, I have always been ready to lead. I’m not sure that such a proposal is a good idea. But anyway, I have always said that if the United States supports NATO, I think that is enough for Ukraine,” Zelensky stated, implying that the best security assurance for his country would be NATO membership rather than a change in leadership.
