Gov. DeSantis Slams Fauci: Makes EPIC Announcement

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis delivered a pointed rebuke at a press conference, criticizing former President Joe Biden’s preemptive pardon of Dr. Anthony Fauci. According to DeSantis, this move—which shields Fauci from federal charges—could spark fresh legal scrutiny at the state level, potentially undermining the former public health chief’s impunity.

A Question of Accountability

During the briefing, a reporter raised an important point: while Fauci is effectively insulated from federal prosecution, he remains vulnerable to state-level legal actions. Seizing the opportunity to address this issue, Governor DeSantis praised the “good question” before pivoting to recent developments that have further inflamed the debate. Among these were startling revelations from Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency.

“I don’t know if you’ve seen this Elon Musk stuff,” DeSantis remarked. “They’ve flagged a commemoration at NIH headquarters—180,000 in number—for Fauci. What on earth are they celebrating? At best, you could call it a ‘Super Bowl of public health’—a catastrophic performance during a pandemic. And that’s before even getting into the whole mess of gain-of-function research and all the other questionable actions that contributed to this debacle.”

A Critique of Fauci’s Public Persona

DeSantis didn’t hold back in his criticism of Fauci’s media presence either. He noted, “He was on TV so much—I’ve never seen anyone do more interviews. I kept wondering why he wasn’t actually looking at the data. And then it hit me: he’s too busy giving interviews to do his homework.” By highlighting Fauci’s constant media appearances, DeSantis implied that the former COVID czar prioritized public relations over rigorous scientific analysis, a stance that has resonated with many of his supporters.

The Impact of Biden’s Pardon

Central to DeSantis’s argument is the idea that Biden’s decision to issue a preemptive pardon has inadvertently intensified the focus on Fauci’s actions. “Biden pardoned him preemptively, which is odd if he hadn’t done anything wrong,” the governor asserted. “That very pardon might be the reason state authorities are now more inclined to dig deeper into Fauci’s record.” According to DeSantis, if not for the pardon, state attorneys general might have simply deferred to the Trump administration’s approach, thereby avoiding a thorough investigation.

He continued, “Had Biden not stepped in with the pardon, I doubt we’d see states pushing forward on this issue. But now, with state juries potentially composed of citizens who aren’t part of the ‘swamp’ that protects him, the outcome could be very different.” DeSantis warned that while juries in Washington might have shielded Fauci in the past, other states could offer a fresh perspective—and possibly a tougher stance on accountability.

A Warning of Unintended Consequences

Governor DeSantis went further to suggest that Biden’s pardon might actually backfire. “Biden intended to shelter Fauci from accountability, but in doing so, he might have set off a chain reaction. If state attorneys general start investigating, we could see a significant shift in how Fauci’s actions are judged,” he stated. The governor speculated that the newly elected Attorney General in Florida, along with counterparts in other states, might pursue investigations that could finally bring Fauci’s controversial decisions under closer legal scrutiny.

Voices from the Media

The controversy isn’t limited to the governor’s remarks. Journalist Matt Taibbi, speaking on former Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s podcast, chimed in on the broader implications of Biden’s preemptive pardons. Taibbi argued that these pardons—issued for Fauci and others like former Rep. Liz Cheney—could inadvertently make it easier for investigators to uncover incriminating evidence. “Once a pardon is handed out, the recipient can’t take the Fifth Amendment if they’re called before a grand jury or a congressional committee. They have to speak up,” Taibbi explained, suggesting that this requirement could force Fauci to testify in ways that might expose previously hidden details.

Taibbi’s perspective underscores a growing sentiment among some legal experts: that pardons, while intended to protect, might also remove a critical shield, thereby increasing the pressure on high-profile figures like Fauci.

Looking Ahead

As the debate over accountability in the wake of the pandemic continues, Governor DeSantis’s comments add fuel to an already heated fire. His assertion is clear: Biden’s preemptive pardon, rather than settling the matter, may well have opened the door for state-level investigations that could ultimately catch up with Fauci. Whether this will lead to substantive legal action remains to be seen, but for now, DeSantis’s remarks serve as a rallying cry for those demanding greater accountability from public officials.
